Rocky Ford School District would like to invite school paraprofessionals and anyone else interested in becoming a teacher to an info session/recruitment night on Tuesday, June 28, at 7:00 pm, at RFSD Central Office - 601 S 8th Street in Rocky Ford. The state of Colorado is offering up to $10,000 in financial assistance and we have a great partnership with T-PREP to help anyone become a certified teacher.
T-PREP is a unique and flexible program that provides tomorrow’s teachers who are living and/or working in rural communities with a way to earn a four-year degree and teaching license without leaving home. The partnership between Otero College, the University of Colorado Denver and local area school districts provides an innovative pathway to become a teacher and is a perfect fit for local rural community members, particularly individuals working in schools as para-educators or in ECE organizations as you can utilize your job to meet the field experience/student teaching requirements of the program. Classes are offered on the Otero campus in the evenings or online. There are also excellent financial supports for students including up to $10,000 tuition reimbursement from the Colorado Department of Education for rural para educators during the 2022-23 academic year.
Please join us for an information session Tuesday June 28 from 7-8 pm at Rocky Ford School District Central Office, 601 S 8th Street, Rocky Ford. You will meet current T-PREP staff, learn more about the program, financial supports, and we can even help you apply to get started.
Visit education.ucdenver.edu/otero to learn a bit more and to complete a brief inquiry form ahead of the information session. This will help program staff tailor the session to your needs or be able to reach out to you if you are unable to join us next Tuesday.
We look forward to meeting with you!
Kermit Snyder, RFSD Superintendent
Valerie Sherman, T-PREP Director
Cindy Gutierrez, CU Denver Director of Clinical Teacher Education
