Rocky Ford School District is Awarded $6 Million
BEST Grant for New Roof and $5.3 Million to
Supplement the PK-8 Addition and High School
Renovation
ROCKY FORD – Rocky Ford School District is pleased to announce two major grant awards
from the Building Excellent Schools Today (BEST) grant program. The first grant award of
approximately $6 million is for the replacement of the Junior Senior High School roof,
including the Ag Shop and the gym. The second grant award of approximately $5.3 million
will be used to supplement the PK-12 Addition/Renovation project currently underway.
Due to the extreme escalation in construction costs that occurred during the pandemic,
financial assistance was needed for the renovation of the Junior High wing, the completion
of the new playgrounds, the landscaping, and other site work. The supplemental grant will
enable the district to bring to fruition the entire project. The district was also approved for
a 0% match for both of these grant awards. Therefore, the roof replacement and the
increased scope for the addition/renovation project will not cost the school district or the
community any additional money.
